Ziebel's Remotely Operated Active Well Completion Solutions

Ziebel has acquired companies and have personnel that has developed
and applied remotely operated downhole flow control valve systems. This
is also referred to as “intelligent” or “smart” well systems.
These flow control valves can also be described as ICV’s – Inflow
Control Valves.
Coupling this to our extensive downhole monitoring solutions, being electronic as well as fiber optic sensing, we offer systems ranging from low-cost “just what you need and nothing more” to high-end for high profile injection and production wells. We also have zonal isolation packers (including “swell” packers) for cased as well as open-hole applications from our technology partners.
Planning, execution, maintenance and optimization
Having personnel in Ziebel that were the first to develop so called “intelligent” completion valve systems, personnel that has wide experience in applying and installing such technologies including downhole electronic and fiber optic monitoring, we have a team that will do their very best to plan the wellbore solutions including any infrastructure (e.g. wellhead interfacing, control system interfacing, etc) required.
We also understand and have ourselves been directly involved in operations where such systems has been used for production- and injection improvements, and we know which data analysis is beneficial, how to link data from the wellbore- and wellhead systems to our reservoir- and production simulation software, and how simulators can be used to test different settings on injectors and producers to increase reservoir drainage. And Increasing Reservoir Drainage is really what Ziebel is all about!
“Low-end” completion solutions
Operating companies often have requirements for remotely operated open/close type downhole valves for injection or production to/from various zones. These valves can be operated hydraulically by control lines from the wellhead, or via a combination of this and Ziebel’s Pumpdown sensing conduit.

Our “low-end” solutions are first of all designed for land well applications, but may also be used for some offshore installations. Integrated we also offer our very reliable multi-drop downhole pressure- and temperature monitoring systems.
These solutions are designed for low- to medium flow rate applications where the systems are expected to be used for around 5 years. Typical areas can be where alternative is to use wireline interventions to operate standard sliding sleeves, but where improvements in logistics and safety improvements by not mobilizing a full wireline crew to locations is of importance.
Also we can offer low-cost methods for choking injection/production, where the choke system will be separated from the downhole flow control valves to save cost and complexity.
These “low-end” solutions are available in a number of dimensions.
“High-end” completion solutions
Ziebel purchased end of 2007 a small, but leading edge, technology company in Norway that has developed, substantially tested and successfully installed remotely operated downhole flow control valves.
These are patented rotating type sleeve valves that incorporates 16 various flow-through choke settings, between fully open and closed position. So basically, these tools offers you a multi-position downhole choke for much improved injection or drainage.
They are based on metal-to-metal sealing, and our high-end ICV’s offers a number of advantages with respect to erosion and scale resistance, flexibility, etc.
These “high-end” solutions are available for delivery in one size only, but Ziebel can of course provide other dimensions if delivery time matches client needs.

The Ziebel HRS (Hydraulic Rotating Sleeve)
This sleeve is operated by control lines from the wellhead outlet, being direct connection to an operator panel, via a subsea control system, via umbilical, etc.
The valve systems will operate with much “dirtier” control fluids than other valves in the market, hydraulic line flushing at any time required, hydraulic position feedback to surface, etc.

The Ziebel MRS (Mechanical Rotating Sleeve)
This sleeve is of the same construction as the HRS, but it is operated by well intervention, being a electric wireline intervention, by coiled tubing, or later by our own ZipLog intervention system.
