Ziebel Acquires the Nescos Advanced Downhole Well Completion Equipment technology from GGS Spectrun

Stavanger-based reservoir competence and wellbore technology company, Ziebel AS, announced today the successful acquisition of the NESCOS technology developed by Nescos AS at Ålgård, Norway. Ziebel bought the patents, technology and name rights from GGS Spectrum. The Nescos employees will move to Ziebel effective immediately.

Nescos has over the past years worked on the development of advanced active valve systems used to optimize the well production by the oil companies. Their hydraulic controlled active valves have further been installed and operated in the field. The main Nescos AS technologies that have been acquired by Ziebel AS are:

NESCOS, an all-hydraulic active well completion system for flow control in hydrocarbon producing and water injection wells. NESCOS has several innovative features, such as rotation sleeve, metal-to-metal sealing and multi-position choke.

The MRS flow valve is operated by either coiled tubing or a wireline tractor shifting tool and provides sensor feedback on sleeve position.

Together with Ziebel’s competence with inflow control devices (ICD), “smart” sand screens, inflow performance knowledge (ICDSIM), data acquisition technology and in depth reservoir competence the Nescos technology will fit well in the offerings and further expand the knowhow and solutions offered by Ziebel to their customers.

‘With the acquisition of the Nescos technology, Ziebel is now able to offer industry leading completion solutions to the oil and gas industry. We have now made significant headway of seeing our vision, to provide oil companies with superior integrated drainage solutions, materialize’. said Ziebel’s CEO, David Ottesen.
