Position: Fiber Optics Technician
Reporting to: Director of Fiber Optic Systems

Due to recent expansion and the acquisition of another company, Ziebel now has the opportunity to recruit a Researcher for Fiber Optic Technology to join our busy team located in Houston, Texas.

Responsibility/ tasks: We are looking for a skilled fiber optics technician to join our team. The individual will have the following responsibilities:

Formal Qualifications:
The candidate for this position will have a BS degree in Physics or a related Engineering discipline (AS degree acceptable with strong fiber optics experience).:

• 3+ years of experience in fiber handling, cleaving/splicing, testing of fiber optic components and systems.
• Experience in design of and/or production of fiber optic components and systems.
• Strong communication skills are a must.
• Experience in troubleshooting fiber optic components and systems and performing failure analysis.
• Capable of documenting work performed and developing operating procedures.
• Experience in fiber optic packaging design is a plus, but not required.
• Knowledge of electronics is a plus, but not required.
• Knowledge in glass-metal sealing would be an important plus.
• Some domestic and international travel may be required.

Languages:

• The successful candidate must be fluent in both spoken and written English
